How do you actually see a client’s WHOOP or Oura data?

Clients ask whether their coach can see their WHOOP or Oura data. The device makers mostly do not answer, and the products that do exist are built for teams and employers. Here is the honest state of it.

01The short version
  • There is no standard way for a solo practitioner to read a client’s device data.
  • The team and enterprise tiers exist, but they expect everyone on one brand.
  • Most practices run on screenshots, CSV exports and WhatsApp.
  • The thing to look for is per-client, per-signal, time-limited access the client can withdraw.
02The question clients actually ask

“I work with a personal trainer. Would WHOOP let them see my data and make adjustments?”

“I have had trainers that use simple csv or excel.”

“a dashboard that perhaps tracks more Whoop data points across team members”

The first two are from a WHOOP community thread in 2025. The question got replies about workouts, not about data access. That is the state of the category.

04What to insist on, whatever you use
Do
  • Per-signal consent — the client picks what you see
  • A time limit the client sets
  • Withdrawal that takes effect immediately
  • A record of what they approved and when
Don’t
  • Collect screenshots in your inbox as the system
  • Ask clients to change device to suit your software
  • Hold raw exports you have no plan to delete
  • Assume "integration" means direct — check which route it takes

Worth checking rather than assuming: several coaching platforms list Oura, WHOOP and Garmin as integrations, then say in their own help pages that the data arrives via Apple Health or Health Connect. That changes what a client has to set up, and what breaks when they change phone.

05How Humotron does it

Clients join by invitation. They connect whatever they already wear, consent to us directly, and choose which signals you can see and for how long. You read everyone on the same page.

When a client withdraws, your access ends at that moment. There is nothing for you to delete, because there was nothing for you to hold. Strava data is never shown to a consultant.

06Questions

Which devices can a client connect?

Eleven providers, covering the ones most people already own. A client on something unsupported can still work with you, with no device signal in the picture.

Is one brand’s score comparable to another’s?

No. Readiness, Recovery and Nightly Recharge are different formulas over different inputs. Read each client against their own history, never against each other.

What about clients who wear nothing?

Everything else in the practice works as normal. There is simply no device signal, and no pretending otherwise.

Do I need the client to buy anything?

No. The premise is that they use what they already own.
